Our Way
We are birthed from the richness of our experience and the wisdom of our mistakes. For 30 years we've been working with young people and their families, and we've learned a few things over time.
The most important lesson is...
In order to have an impact with young people of color, it's not the quality of the curriculum that matters – it's the quality of people delivering it!
Healing Centered Engagement
Our co-founder Dr. Shawn Ginwright coined the term "Healing Centered Engagement" to point out the challenges with conventional ways of thinking about youth development, and trauma.
He poignantly describes how healing is something we all need to transform our communities and organizations. Healing Centered Engagement is a paradigm shift in how we think and work with young people in our systems because it requires a change in the adults who support them.
