A little bit about us and why we care about diversity

We are a mighty urban Scooby-Doo crew, looking for clues to solve tough problems in urban schools and communities. Our eclectic expert team is comprised of curriculum specialists, program designers, technology developers, activists, evaluators and folks with a big imaginations and deep skills!

Our mission is to transform the way youth development practitioners and the institutions they work for serve youth in communities of color. The old way is not enough. In order to uplift our communities, we cannot just focus on trauma. We must also focus on what’s right with us, our dreams and just plain ole’ having fun. We call this approach Healing Centered Engagement.

Healing Centered Engagement is a paradigm shift that confronts racism and racial inequity by examining an individual's core values and beliefs, and the way those values and beliefs can impact our interpersonal relationships as well as the policies and practices found in systems, and institutions.

We maintain our community roots, while at the same time cultivate a national impact. Our work with youth of color and their families keeps us grounded in the day to day issue young people face.  We use these insights to keep us informed on what communities of color need today and cater our services to meet those needs.

Flourish Agenda invests in opportunities to support the personal and professional development for our staff in order to promote their well-being, grow personally and professionally, and to use the skills they learn at Flourish Agenda to go out and change other institutions.

Through active recruitment, constant community outreach, and holding our culture at the root of our work, our staff at Flourish Agenda is proudly reflective of our communities that we hold so very dear.
